Catherine J. Gallagher, 92, of Manchester, passed away on February 16, 2023, at Hillsborough County Nursing Home, after a short illness.
Born in Manchester on March 15, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Garrett and Julia (Murphy) Barry. She was educated in Manchester, was a graduate of St, Joseph School for Girls, class of 1948, and a lifelong resident of the Queen City.
Catherine was employed for many years as an accountant with Silver Brothers Distributors and worked part time in the cafeteria at St. Anselm College in her later years.
Catherine loved attending family events, trips to the beach and cooking for family and friends.
She will be remembered for her compassionate, loving and generous nature.
Above all else, she was a devoted and loving wife, sister, aunt and friend.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James J. Gallagher in 1985.
Surviving family members include numerous nieces and nephews; grand nieces and grand nephews; great grand nieces and great grand nephews; and cousins.
She was also predeceased by both parents; three sisters, Mary V. Padden, Benita L. Dumont, and Anne C. Thurston; two brothers, John F. Barry and William G. Barry.
There are no calling hours. Friends and family are invited to attend to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Saturday, February 25th at 11:30am at St. Joseph Cathedral Chapel, 145 Lowell Street, Manchester, NH 03103. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at Donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org)
