She was born in Kilmallock, County Limerick, Ireland on July 25, 1922 to William and Nora (Delea) Naughton. She emigrated to Britain in 1939, where she attended nursing school. She lived for several years in Shepton-Mallet and met her husband, George, a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. During the war, she worked for the British Civil Service. In 1945, she returned to Ireland where her first child was born. She moved to Manchester in 1946, where she raised a family of seven of whom she was always proud. She became a proud American in 1951, but ever remained a daughter of Ireland. In later years, she worked for the Manchester Housing Authority.
Catherine was a member of the Steven Buswell Post # 54 in Bedford and a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Manchester. As a young lady, she played the piano and the violin and won awards in Irish step dancing. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and all things Irish. She was proud of her Irish heritage and had visited Ireland many times since moving to Manchester.
She was predeceased by her husband, Adelard "George" Moquin in 1984, a son, Sean Moquin in 2008, and eight siblings: Padraig O'Neachtain, Cornelius Naughton, Teresa Varilone, Thomas Naughton, Sean Naughton, Eileen Naughton, Mary Naughton and Mary O'Donnell.
The family includes six children: A. Christopher Moquin of Venice, Florida, Kathleen Moquin of Houston, TX, Patrick Moquin and his wife, Denise, of Hollis, Eileen Chandonnet and her husband, John, of Manchester, Liam Moquin and his wife, Patricia, of Pittsfield and Kevin Moquin and his wife, Helen, of Concord; 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; six siblings: Norah Hickey and her husband, Thomas and Seamas Naughton and his wife, Marta, all of New York, Bridget Naughton of Texas, William Naughton and his wife, Mary, of Florida, and Bernadette Blake and Joseph Naughton and his wife, Breda, all of Ireland; and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family will remember her for her bright Irish smile, her love and care for those close to her, and her strong sense of values and faith.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 14 Elm St., Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
