She was born in Manchester on October 23, 1929, the daughter of Wilfrid and Albertine (Caron) Benoit. Cecile was a graduate of St. Joseph High School for Girls, and Mt. St. Mary's College.
In her life, Cecile worked as a physical therapist in the NH State Hospital. She then worked at Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center with the deaf. She began her 30 year teaching career in New York, for special needs students, and remained there until her retirement, shortly before her 65th birthday. After retiring, she returned to Manchester to care for her aunt Alice.
While back in NH, Cecile kept busy. After the loss of her aunt Alice, Cecile worked at OLPH Church with CCD classes and was a Eucharistic Minister there. When they closed Cecile went to St. Anthony Church where she found an extensive family with the connected Catholics, working on weekly bulletins and as a member of the RCIA.
Cecile is survived by her Godchild, Patricia Hudon, and her husband Donald, of Manchester, and several cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 172 Belmont St, Manchester. Burial followed in St. Augustin Cemetery, South Beech St, Manchester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: A charity of one's choice.
We would like to thank the staff of Mt. Carmel Nursing Home for the care and for making Cecile feel comfortable and loved.
