Sister Cecile Roy, CSC, (Sister Mary Florence of France), age 81, of 357 Island Pond Rd., Manchester, died August 14, 2002, at Holy Cross Health Center.
Born in Rochester, December 16, 1920, she was the daughter of Philias and Adelia (Bouchard) Roy. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1942 and made her final profession in 1949 at St. Laurent, Canada. She served as a religious for 60 years.
Sister earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Notre Dame College in Manchester.
Sister Cecile taught in elementary schools and shared her many skills in Springfield, MA, St. Albans, VT, Nashua, Newmarket, Pittsfield and Manchester, NH.
The community benefited from her skill in podiatry assisting the infirmed
In 1996 she retired at St. George Manor and later was transferred to Holy Cross Health Center.
Family members include a sister, Gertrude Potvin; nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday August 24, 2002 in the chapel of St. George Manor. Burial was in St. Augustin Cemetery, Manchester.
