He was born in Laconia, the son of William and Lizzie (Masure) Bean and had resided in Manchester for most of his life.
Mr. Bean worked many years as a master mechanic for Graf Brothers and he was a lifelong member of the Teamsters Union.
He enjoyed painting and repairing cars at his home in his spare time.
The family includes, a daughter, Beverly Bean of Manchester; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Scott) Bean in 2009; his son, William Bean in 2009; his sister, Bell Leighton; and three brothers, Christopher Bean, Elwood Bean, and Fred Bean.
Military services took place on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen NH.
Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm Street corner of North Street, assisted the family with arrangements.
