Charles ("Charlie") Joseph Chouinard, 90, of Manchester, NH, passed away on April 11, 2016. He was born in Manchester, NH on August 5, 1925, the son of the late Victor and Eva Chouinard.
He grew up in Manchester, attended local schools and joined the US Army at age 17. He served his country during WWII, and saw combat in France and Germany. He later met and married his late wife of 63 years, Maxine (Nute) Chouinard. He worked for the city of Manchester for many years prior to his retirement.
Charlie will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who worked tirelessly and put others needs before his own. He truly enjoyed his family and friends and many happy memories were made together with them.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Gail Timbas and her husband Billy, Carol Kelliher and her husband David, Gregg Chouinard and his wife Anne; grandchildren Jeffrey Timbas and his wife Leiden, Alexandra Timbas, Christopher Kelliher and his wife Dana, Patrick Kelliher and his wife Kim, Shauna Troy and her husband Mark, Kaylee Chouinard, and Cameron Chouinard. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Sylvio Chouinard and his wife Terry, his sister Claire Lay, and his sister Lucille Groulx. He was predeceased by his brothers Albert Chouinard, and Wilfred Chouinard, and by his sisters Violet Houle, and Germaine Ashburner.
The family would like to extend thanks and gratitude to the staff of Hillsborough County Nursing Home and Home Health and Hospice for all of their care and kindness given to Charlie.
A memorial service with military honors was held on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St.,Manchester. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hillsborough County Nursing Home, 400 Mast Rd., Goffstown, NH 03045.
