Charles Emile

Sr. Charles Emile, P.M. (Sr. Olivette DesGrosseilliers), 85, of the Sisters of Presentation of Mary, 495 Mammoth Rd., Manchester, NH, died October 13, 2004, at St. Joseph Residence, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Nashua, NH, August 11, 1919, she was the daughter of Charlemagne and Marie-Jeanne (Deboisbriand) DesGrosseilliers. She entered the Sisters of Presentation of Mary in 1937, made her first Profession in 1940, and her final Profession in 1946. She received a Bachelor of Education degree from Rivier College, Nashua, NH. She did post graduate studies at Providence College, Providence, R.I., the University of Rhode Island, No. Kingston, R.I., and at Rivier College in Nashua, NH.

Sister Charles-Emile taught at the elementary and junior high school levels in Willamansett and Linwood, MA for 7 years, and in Woonsocket and Coventry, R.I. for 26 years. She then became librarian at Woonsocket Catholic Junior High School, a post she retained for 30 years. From 1992-2002, she worked as Librarian-Genealogist for L'Union St. Jean-Baptiste at the Bibliotheque Mallet, a historical Franco-American Library in Woonsocket, RI.

In 1995, she was a nominee for the Arthur J. Dandeneau Franco-American Heritage Award given each year by the R.I. Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission.

Sister Charles-Emile retired in 2003 at St. Marie Residence, Manchester, NH, and then was transferred to St. Joseph Residence, Manchester, NH, in 2004.

She leaves many cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday October 16, 2004 in the Resurrection Chapel. Burial followed in Presentation of Mary Cemetery, Hudson, NH.
