Charles E. Hicks

Charles E. Hicks, 86, of Manchester, died December 19, 2007 at Harborside Healthcare. He was born in Henrietta NC, May 27, 1921 and was the son of Ervin, and Ina(Lockridge) Hicks.

Mr. Hicks served in the United States Army during WWII from 1942 to 1945. In 1946 he relocated to Manchester.

Early on, he owned and operated the Chuck Wagon canteen service in the Manchester area. Later he worked for the Toombs Door Company. During his retirement he was a courier for the First NH bank.

He will be remembered for his fondness for puttering around the yard, growing great vegetables, and beautiful roses.

Family members include his wife of 62 years Irene (Remillard) Hicks, of Manchester, a daughter, Debra MacArthur, of Goffstown; a son Robert "Butch" Hicks, of Manchester; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 sisters; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service took place on Saturday December 22, 2007 in the funeral home.

Burial took place at the convenience of the family in the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen NH.
