Charles E. Hungler

Charles E. (Chuck) Hungler, 80, of Manchester, NH passed away peacefully on May 16th.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Rita , their son Edward, his wife Robin and their two children, Charlie (13) and Jane (12) of Wilmette IL and their son Joseph, his wife Bonnie and their daughter Avery (2) of Lowell, MA.
His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. Chuck is predeceased by his parents, John and Edith (Toher) Hungler. He is survived by a sister, Jane Hungler Baker of Burke, VA, 16 nieces and nephews and 24 great nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother, John Hungler of Elizabethtown, PA and sister Bernadette (Pat) Hungler of Needham, MA. He earned a Bachelor's of Science in Accounting from Bentley, where he met his best friend, Rita (Doolan) Hungler.
They married in Danbury, CT on August 28, 1965. Chuck was Senior Vice President at Jac Pac Foods for twenty-two years following twenty-two years as a Certified Public Accountant in Boston. In retirement, he and Rita took up traveling, first to see their grandchildren and then to see every state except Hawaii. He was a daily communicant at St. Catherine's Church. He was a member of several non-profit boards.
He enjoyed giving back to others, even on the day he was heading to the hospital for the last time, he and Rita stopped to drop off baked goods for their adopted friends at a nursing home.
Chuck always said he was "Awesomely well."
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, May 19, 2017 at St. Catherine's Church, 207 Hemlock St, Manchester, NH. The burial took place in St. Paul's Cemetery in Hingham, MA on Saturday, May 20, 2017. Special thanks to Dr. Lakshmi Nayak of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute who extended his life, particularly the quality of his life. Memorial donations may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lowell, 657 Middlesex Street, Lowell, MA 01851 or to a charity of one's choice.
