Charles E. Letson Sr., 90, of Manchester, died January 14, 2014 at Catholic Medical Center after a sudden illness.

He was born in Goffstown on August 23, 1923 to John and Helen (Brainard) Letson. He graduated from Central High School in 1942 and was a lifelong resident of Manchester.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and attended many reunions over the years with the 75th Troop Carrier Squadron.

Mr. Letson worked for New England Telephone Company for 40 years and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was also one of the founding communicants of St. Pius X Church where he was a member of the Holy Name Society.

He enjoyed all New England sports teams and had played baseball and hockey in his youth. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing and summers at Newfound and Suncook lakes. He especially enjoyed time spent with his family.

He was predeceased by his wife, June (Therrien) Letson in 2009 and two sisters, Helene Hunter and Dorothy Emery.

The family includes six children, Marny Lambert and her husband, Paul, of Auburn, Charles E. Letson Jr. and his wife, Lynn, of Manchester, Peggy Lambert and her husband, Ron, of Auburn, Mary Paradise and her husband, Alan, of Pittsfield, and Donna Larochelle and her husband, Albert, and John Letson and his wife, Heather, all of Manchester; 12 grandchildren, Jessica Smith and her husband, Mike, Jennifer Rhode and her husband, Joe, Thaurin, Shelby and Bryce Paradise, Melissa, Angela and Sarah Lambert, Christopher and Julie Larochelle and Ian and Colin Letson; a great grandson, Parker Smith; a step grandson, Michael Krebs; a sister, Charlotte Emery of Ellington, CT; two brothers in law, Donald Huot and James Therrien and his wife, Ann, all of Manchester; three sisters in law, Dorothy Demers and Marian Wichert and her husband, John, all of Manchester and Bernadette Richotte and her husband, Frank, of Auburn; two half brothers, Geoffrey Letson and his wife, Sandy of North Carolina and Edward Letson and his wife, Paula, of Littleton; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at St. Pius X Church, corner of Candia Road and Sarto Street. Committal prayers followed at St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford.
