Charles A. Statires

Charles A. Statires, 85, of Manchester, died July 3, 2013 at Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a brief illness.

He was born in Manchester on May 21, 1928 to Andrew and Evangelia (Papanastacio) Statires. He graduated from Central High School in 1948 and was a lifelong resident of Manchester.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Army with the 27th Infantry in Osaka, Japan. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal.

Charles worked many years in sales with Table Talk Pies, Blackstone Cigars, Prince Macaroni Company and the New Hampshire Liquor Commission. He also served on the board of directors at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral for several years.

The family includes his wife of nearly 60 years, Evangeline (Kouskoutas) Statires of Manchester; three children, Diana Lianos and her husband, Chris, of Manchester and Kathryn Statires Basoukas and her husband, Darren, and Stephen Statires and his wife, Sonia, all of Bedford; seven grandchildren, Scott Lianos and his wife, Jacqueline, Tim Lianos, Michael Lianos, Kyle Basoukas, Charlie Statires, Jacob Statires and Nathan Statires; two great grandchildren, Jack Lianos and George Lianos; two brothers, James Statires and Nicholas Statires both of Manchester; a sister in law, Julia Lylis of Manchester and nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 650 Hanover St., Manchester. Rev. Andrew Mahalares officiated. Committal prayers followed at Pine Grove Cemetery, Calef Road, Manchester.
