Chris Gianaris, 95, of Manchester died April 16, 2005 at a local health care facility after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Manchester, NH on January 25, 1910, the son of James and Constance (Rassias) Gianaris. He was educated in the local school system and graduated from Manchester High School Central. He served with distiction in the US Air Force during WWII and was awarded a Bronze Star.
Mr. Gianaris owned and operated C&H Supermarket on the corner of Hanover St. and Hall St. for many years.
He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral and was a member of the AHEPA Society. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years.
Members of his family include his wife of 57 years, Efrosini "Effie" (Kolinas) Gianaris of Manchester; One daughter, Mrs. Constance Gianaris Andrews of Fredericksburg, VA; a nephew, Nicholas Kolinas of Las Vegas; 4 nieces, Tina Kolinas and Joanne Kolinas, both of Las Vegas, Constance Kallimanis and Stavroula Psalidas, both of Athens, Greece; many cousins. He was recently pre-deceased by his brother Dionysios Gianaris;
The funeral service was Wednesday April 20, 3005 in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery.
