Christie Goudas, 80, of Manchester died February 20, 2004 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Manchester after a brief illness.
Born in Boston, MA on February 12, 1924, he was the son of Thomas and Penelope (Anagnos) Goudas. He grew up in Boston and lived in Manchester for many years.
During World War II he served in the US Marine Corps as a forward observer radioman with the 4th Marine Division. He saw combat duty during the battles in Saipan and Tinian and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Mr. Goudas worked as a news photographer with The Union Leader for 50 years. He was a member of the National Press Photographers Association and the Manchester Newspaper Guild.
He was also a member of the 4th Marine Division Association, the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a communicant of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Manchester.
He was married to Sonia J. (Petruk) Goudas who died in 1996.
The family includes a daughter, Cynthia L. Semsel of Brooklyn, NY; a son, Brian C. Goudas of Manchester; two grandchildren; a brother, Gregory Goudas of Boston, MA; a sister, Madeline Case of Boston, MA and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral was February 23, 2004 in St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 650 Hanover St., Manchester. Rev. Stylianos Muksuris officiated. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery, 765 Brown Ave., Manchester.
