Christine (Oliver) Mothes, 89, of Manchester, died Sunday May 7, 2023 at Catholic Medical Center after a period of declining health.
Born September 28, 1933 in Limerick, ME, Christine was the daughter of Clarence & Yvonne (Legere) Oliver. She attended school in Limerick in her early years before her family moved to Manchester in 1945. Christine graduated from Manchester Central High School in 1950 at the age of 16 (thanks to a double promotion in kindergarten). She was married to Robert Mothes for 54 years until his death in 2009.
Christine enjoyed a busy career as an office clerk for several companies in Manchester including Crystal Laundry, Auclair Trucking, and Hemingway Trucking. She retired in 1996 after 22 years as a supervisor in the Accounting department at Home Insurance Company.
Christine was an avid crossword puzzler and loved the Hallmark channel. When her children were young, she spent several summers as a Day Camp counselor. Christine was affectionately known as ‘Ma’ to her children and grandchildren. Her door was always open and she was ready to lend a hand to anyone at any time. There was nothing Christine liked more than to see all of her family together at holiday, wedding, and graduation celebrations through the years. She especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Christine is survived by her children Jane Macek & her husband Thomas of Venice, FL, Alan Mothes & his wife Laurie of Deerfield, Tina Diehl of Manchester, Ruth Harrington & her husband Mark of Goffstown, and Lisa Crispin Powell of Manchester; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Elinor Tuttle, Anita Oliver, Esther Mercer, and Mildred Oliver.
