Claire A. (Robitaille) Brown, 90, loving mother, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully February 9, 2007 at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ.
She was born in Manchester, NH on January 18, 1917, the daughter of Albert and Emilie (Moreau) Robitaille. She graduated from Manchester West High School and later the Moore General Hospital School of Nursing. During WWII, she served as a US Army nurse in the South Pacific.
She was employed for many years as a registered nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital and the Catholic Medical Center, formerly Notre Dame Hospital. She had been a resident of the Manchester area for most of her life prior to moving to New Jersey to live with her daughter ten years ago.
Claire was predeceased by her husband, Eugene V. Brown, brothers Albert Robitaille and Leo Robitaille, and sisters Irene Jacques, Jeanette Lamy and Bibiane Spenard.
She is survived by her sister Anita Robitaille of Manchester, son, Thomas C. Brown and wife, Bonnie, of Lafayette, Ca., daughter, Denise C. Petit-Clair of Midland Park, NJ, son Eugene V. Brown Jr. and wife Bonnie, of Manchester, grandchildren Jonathan Brown, Jenna Brown, Eugene V. Brown III, Justin Brown, Tyler Brown, Matthew Petit-Clair and many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate to be in her life.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Catherine Church on Friday February 16, 2007. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Manchester.
Donations may be made to the Midland Park Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 58, Midland Park, NJ 07432, an organization which assisted Claire many times with efficiency and compassion.
