Claire T. Shea

Claire T. (Grenier) Shea, 76, of Manchester, died September 26, 2013 at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston.

She was born in Worcester, MA on January 16, 1937 to Bertrand and Marie (Bellemore) Grenier. She graduated from St. George High School for Girls in 1954 and was a lifetime resident of Manchester.

She summered at Cape Neddick Campground in Cape Neddick, ME and wintered at Bay Watch Resort in North Myrtle Beach, SC for 20 years.

Claire worked in the accounting departments of Pariseau's Department Store and the Union Leader newspapers for many years. She also worked at Bedford House of Ceramics for several years.

She loved animals and enjoyed cross-stitching. She was also interested in environmental preservation.

In 2002, at Manchester Airport, Claire was present for the Grenier Rededication including a bronze plaque honoring her cousin, Lt. Jean Grenier for whom the airport was formerly named after in 1942 as Grenier Field.

The family includes her husband of 58 years, Robert J. Shea of Manchester; three children, Mark R. Shea and his wife, Norma J., of Concord, Stephen C. Shea and his wife, Donnis A., of Manchester and Beverly Shea and her husband, Paul J. Grzymkowski, of Satellite Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Patrick R. Shea and Megan E. Shea; a great grandchild, Brody P. Shea; one nephew and several nieces and cousins.

She was predeceased by a sister, Doris Dennis and a granddaughter, Lauren M. Shea.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, September 30, 2013 at St. Pius X Church, corner of Candia Road and Sarto Street, Manchester. Committal prayers followed at St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Manchester Animal Shelter, 490 Dunbarton Rd., Manchester, NH 03102.
