Collett V. Hill, "Cal", of Bedford, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2021 at 89 years old. During a period of declining health, his last months were spent at home in the care of his loving family.
He was born in Gary, Indiana on November 10, 1931 to Leonard and Dorothy (Barnes) Hill.
He earned a bachelor's degree from New Hampshire College and lived in Bedford for over forty years.
Cal spent most of his working life as an associate of State Farm Insurance. As an automobile claims superintendent, he worked in most of the New England states and enjoyed many facets of that complex job.
He was a 32nd degree brother in the Masonic Lodge, a life member of the Alpine Club and long time member of the Rimmon Club. He played trumpet in the Bedford Rotary Band and volunteered his services rendering taps for military burials. He enjoyed golf, fishing and driving his convertible. He was a skilled card player and member of the Cribbage and Poker League at the Village Trestle in Goffstown,
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 68 years, Priscilla "Sue" (Runyan) Hill of Bedford and his three children,Denise McCarthy and her husband, Jeff, of Massachusetts, Christopher V. Hill and his wife, Michele, formerly of Bedford and Julie Roberge and her husband, Steve, of Bedford. He was "Gramps" to three grandsons,Brandon Hill and Dana and Derek Steele. More recently he became a proud "Great Gramps"! He is also survived by his niece, Starr Johnson of GA.
SERVICES: A walk-through visitation with masks, social distancing and limited interaction with the family will take place on Thursday from 5 to 7 PM at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. A funeral ceremony and burial at Bedford Center Cemetery will be private.
