Conrad M. Fortin, 89, of Manchester, died June 28, 2023, at Elliot Hospital, after a period of declining health.
Born in Nashua on February 3, 1934, he was the son of the late Roland and Irene (Pinsonneault) Fortin. He was a graduate of Nashua High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Lowell Tech. He was an electrical engineer with Osram Sylvania for 36 years before retiring in 1999.
Conrad was a devoted family man. He enjoyed playing ping pong, badminton, and croquet. He also enjoyed computer programming, and all things related to science. He and his wife Lorraine together enjoyed traveling as well as ballroom and square dancing. Time spent with family brought him the greatest happiness. He was a highly intellectual thinker with a natural curiosity for everything, especially science. He was a conversationalist with a great sense of humor. He loved nature and visited over 50 US national parks. Above all else, Conrad will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Family includes his beloved wife of 59 years, Lorraine T. (Martin) Fortin of Manchester; three sons, Marc Fortin of Manchester, Eric Fortin and wife Hiromi of Japan, and Carl Fortin and wife Elizabeth of Houston, TX; and two grandchildren, Ashley and Noah Fortin of Houston, TX. He was predeceased by both parents; one sister, Jeannette McHugh; and one brother, George Fortin.
SERVICES: Calling hours are from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North St., Manchester, NH 03104. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Thursday at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 172 Belmont St., Manchester, NH 03103. Burial to follow in St. Augustin Cemetery, S. Beech St., Manchester, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: St. Anthony of Padua Parish, 172 Belmont St., Manchester, NH 03103.
