Cornelius F. Foley

Cornelius F. "Neil" Foley, of Manchester, died October 27, 2006, at Merrimack Community Health and Hospice, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Manchester on July 26, 1930, and was the son of John and Catherine(Somers) Foley. He was a member of St. Raphael Parish.

Neil was educated in local schools, and was a graduate of St. Joseph's Boys High School class of 1948. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Sweeney Post #2.

Neil worked for New England Telephone Company for 34 years in the central office equipment and installation department throughout New England, retiring in 1991.

He enjoyed building and remolding his home, and those of his children. He loved to garden, swim, and challenging jig saw puzzles. He was a fan of the Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics.

Family members include; two daughters, Shawna and David Lemire of Bedford; Tricia and Michael Bates of Hollis; two sons, John and Rosie (O'Toole) Foley, Neil Foley and Shannon Audley of Concord; three grandchildren; Alyssa, Graham and Harrison; a step-grandchild, Emma; a close nephew Leon Lapointe; several aunts and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years Jeannette(LaPointe) Foley in December of 2005.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday November 1, 2006 in St Raphael Church, 103 Walker St. Manchester.

Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Donald St. Bedford.
