Daniel L. Duval, 54, of Manchester died May 8, 2012 after a sudden illness.

Dan was born in Manchester on May 11, 1957, the son of Leonard and Patricia (McDermott) Duval and had been a lifelong resident of Manchester. He was educated in the Manchester school system and was a graduate of Trinity High School, class of 1976.

Dan was a tireless advocate for the youth in his community. He mentored, coached, advised, and counseled thousands of young people and will be remembered for his positive outlook and resilient spirit. He taught about life and the ability to share, care and love. Dan had a tremendous impact on thousands of kids and athletes who came to hear him speak.

Dan was employed by the City of Manchester as an outreach worker for the Department of Youth Services. He was also a highly sought after motivational speaker, who travelled to high schools and colleges throughout the country delivering his message and touching the lives of all he met.

He was an avid sports fan, with a devotion to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and enjoyed playing golf at the Derryfield Country Club. He was also an active member of The Point.

Above all else, Dan cherished the time he spent with his loving wife Debbie and will be remembered as a devoted husband, son, brother, nephew, uncle, friend and an inspiration to all who knew him.

Family members include his wife of 25 years Deborah (St. Jean) Duval of Manchester; his parents of Bradenton, FL; his brother, Jeffrey Duval and his wife Karen of Manchester; his sisters, Deborah Duval of Ocala, FL and Lori Leblanc of Bedford; five nieces, Stephanie and Alexis Duval of Manchester, Brianne Volpe of Tallahassee, FL, Caitlin Lynch and Holly Dionne of Manchester, NH; four nephews, Ryan and Brett Remillard of Ocala, FL, and Matthew and Brendan Lynch of Manchester, NH.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, May 14, 2012 in St. Joseph Cathedral, corner of Pine and Lowell Streets. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, 484 Donald St, Bedford.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Manchester Police Athletic League (P.A.L.), care of Manchester Police Headquarters, 351 Chestnut St., Manchester, NH 03101-2294.
