Daniel Jude Fitzgerald, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025, at the age of 84. A lifelong resident of Manchester, New Hampshire, Dan was born on May 9, 1940, to Richard and Florence Fitzgerald.
Dan was predeceased by his cherished wife, Rachel “Blondie” Fitzgerald, their son Daren Fitzgerald and Dan’s brother, Gerald Fitzgerald. He leaves behind a devoted family: his three sons—Richard Fitzgerald and daughter-in-law Roxanne of Newtown, Pennsylvania; Kevin Fitzgerald and daughter-in-law Carrie of Londonderry, New Hampshire; and Sean Fitzgerald and daughter-in-law Kristen of Wesley Chapel, Florida. He is also survived by his loving sister, Christine Contois, and his seven treasured grandchildren: Daniel, Caleb, Jack, Marline, Brendan, Kellan, and Casey.
A veteran of the United States Army, Dan carried the values of loyalty, service, and commitment throughout his life. He dedicated much of his time to the youth of his community, coaching West Little League baseball and playing a key role in launching Jutras Post #43 American Legion baseball, where he saw the team win a state title in 1985 as athletic director. Dan was also heavily involved in the creation and early success of West Youth Soccer. In his later years, Dan continued his devotion to youth sports as an assistant coach in the LAFA Baseball program, sharing his wisdom and love of the game with a new generation in Londonderry, New Hampshire. His passion for mentoring and sports left a lasting legacy.
Dan was a natural-born salesman—if it could be built, he could sell it. From homes and siding to encyclopedias and windows, he did it all. But it was his time selling copiers for Conway Office Solutions that he fondly considered his favorite job.
Those who knew Dan will remember a man of unwavering loyalty and fierce dedication. If he was in your corner, there was no greater ally. And if you found yourself on the other side, you certainly knew it. His larger-than-life personality, quick wit, and deep love for his family and friends will be dearly missed.
