Daniel W. McMillan, 76, of Manchester, died July 30, 2018 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Manchester on April 25, 1942, he was the son of Benjamin P. and Katherine D. (Donovan) McMillan. He was educated in Manchester and was a lifelong resident of the Queen City.
Daniel served in the US Army and was honorably discharged at the rank of SP5 in 1962. He then spent over thirty years as the owner and operator of McMillan Transportation before retiring in 2011.
Daniel was an avid New England sports and racing fan. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Carol, camping and playing cards. Spending time with family and friends was what he loved. He was very social, generous, and kind hearted and always enjoyed life to the fullest. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Daniel was predeceased by his loving wife of 19 years, Carol A. (O'Neil) McMillan in 2017; and his daughter Kimberly McMillan.
Family includes one son, Daniel McMillan, Jr. and companion Jodi of Manchester; one daughter, Jennifer McMillan of Manchester; three stepdaughters, Kerry Auger and companion Khalil of Epsom, Darcy DiBenedetto and companion Steve of Manchester, and Stacy Reynolds and husband Jamie of Londonderry; eight grandchildren, Brittany, Kevin, Danny, Ashley, Cody, Tyler, Madison, and Justin; two great grandchildren, Anthony and Charlotte; two sisters, Kathleen Adams of Manchester, and Marie Prest and husband Eddie of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by one sister, Anne Fink; and two brothers, Bruce and Tommy McMillan.
Committal prayers with military honors took place on Friday, August 3, 2018 in the chapel at NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 DW Highway, Rte. 3, Boscawen. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: American Cancer Society, NH Chapter, 2 Commerce Dr., Ste. 110, Bedford, NH 03110.
