He was born in Goffstown, NH on December 10, 1932, the son of Arthur and Elise (Houle) Desaulniers. He was a lifelong resident of the Manchester area and attended Central High School.
David served in the US Air Force from 1948 to 1952. He later worked as a carpenter, who was self employed for many years, and retired from Pro-Con Construction in 2001.
He was a member of Jutras Post #43 American Legion and was a dance instructor at the William B. Cashin Senior Activity Center. David will be remembered for his great sense of humor, and as a "friend of Bill W's". He loved to tell jokes, dancing, his dog Vanessa and most of all, he loved his family.
David was predeceased by his wife Lucia (Lombardo) Desaulniers in 2001; a brother, Roland Desaulniers; a nephew, Douglas Desaulniers; and both parents.
The family includes two daughters, Lynn Finley and husband Michael, of Dracut, MA, and Nancy Perkins and husband Randy, of Manchester; three sons, Ross and Michael Desaulniers, both of Manchester, and Mark Desaulniers and wife Emmy, of NY; one step daughter, Diane Conway of Manchester; one step son, David Turcotte of Manchester; 14 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; his long time companion, Mary Gilikson of Manchester; one sister, Frances Olhava of FL; one brother, Robert Desaulniers of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, NH 03104. Burial will be private and held in NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, at a later date.
