David J. Royer, Sr., 67, of Hooksett, died November 25, 2016 at Concord Hospice House after a courageous battle with AML, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Manchester on October 31, 1949, the son of Arthur Royer and Norma (Smith) Heselton. He attended Manchester Central High School and was a lifelong resident of the area.
David worked for the Manchester Highway Department and SCI Systems. He then worked as a courier for 12 years with BAE Systems before retiring in 2011. He was a lifetime member of the Alpine Club.
David was a hardworking, caring, and honest person with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, nature, the beach, Seinfeld reruns and trips to Foxwoods. He was also an avid New England sports fan. Above all, David will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
The family includes his beloved wife of 49 years, Diane (Cote) Royer of Hooksett; three children, David Royer, Jr. and long time companion Lisa Roberts of North Hampton, Douglas Royer of Epping, and Dawn-Cheri Gorton and husband Fred of Bow; four grandchildren, Ashleigh Royer of Plaistow, Bryan Royer of Rochester, and Jack and Gracie Gorton of Bow; two half-brothers, Dana and Gary; four half-sisters, Karen, Lori, Heidi and Cheryl; sister and brother-in-laws, Donna and Rick Longstaff, and Joe Cote and Judy Quirk; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by both of his parents.
In appreciation of the care and kindness that was shown from all the staff on 7D at Brigham & Women's Hospital and the Concord Hospice House, the family would like to extend their sincerest thanks.
A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Lambert Funeral Home. Committal prayers followed at St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford, NH 03110.
