He retired from the Post Office in 1991.
Dave and Sylvia were avid moviegoers, and were big fans of foreign and independent films, seeing countless movies over the years. They were also music lovers of all genres, particularly jazz, blues, folk music, rock n' roll, and classical. They studied Spanish, and traveled together internationally to Spain, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Canada, Bermuda, and Mexico.
Upon the retirement of both Dave and Sylvia from the Post Office, they continued to work for several years as ESL teachers, teaching English to foreign students in their home in Woburn, and also as part of the local YMCA's Adult Education Program. In more recent years, Dave was a dedicated volunteer at the Upper Room in Derry, NH, working in the Food Pantry.
