Donald N. Cayer, lifelong resident of Manchester NH died at his home on October 13, 2024 at the age of 89, surrounded by his family.
Born in Manchester on October 5, 1935, he was the son of the late Donat and Ida (Guillemette) Cayer. He proudly served his country with the US Army National Guard.
In his earlier days, Donald worked as a painting and wallpapering contractor, a trade he learned from his father. He later opened Hidden Treasures Furniture Repair & Refinishing before transitioning to Don’s Chair Repair. Yes, that was him riding around with the chair on the roof of his van.
Don was a skilled woodworker building exquisite pieces of furniture, frames, board and yard games and so much more. His most prized accomplishment was turning a 1920 barn into a gorgeous two-story home. He enjoyed camping, fishing, playing pool, shooting horseshoes and Canadian horseshoes as well. He was an avid stock car driver, a fixture at Hudson and Pine Speedways.
He was predeceased by his son, Mark Cayer and siblings, Terry Marburger, Lorraine Wadleigh, Yvonne Coburn and Norman Cayer.
Family members include his wife and partner of 51 years, Patricia (Richards) Cayer of Manchester; his sons, Kenneth Cayer and wife Josie of Candia, Ronald Cayer of Manchester; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Priscilla Martineau of Bedford; several aunts, uncles, nephews, niece and cousins.
Calling hours at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, are Friday, October 18th from 4 to 6 pm with a brief service in the funeral home at 6:30 pm.
