Donald E. Lemire

Donald E. Lemire, 82, of Goffstown, died January 23, 2019 at his home after a period of declining health.

He was born in Manchester on August 26, 1936 to Eleodore and Jeanne (Barbeau) Lemire. He graduated from St. Marie High School and lived in Manchester and Goffstown.

Donald retired from the Daniel Webster Council Boy Scouts of America as director of finance after 20 years of service. In 1993, he formed QPS Enterprises, a brokerage business in printing and office supplies, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2003.

While with the Daniel Webster Council, he co-founded the Police Training Academy, the first in the country. He was a recipient of the Spurgeon Award given by the council for Exploring, a teenage coed program of scouting.

He was the founder of the Merrimack Rotary Club and served as its first secretary. He also served as president of the Bedford Rotary Club and Goffstown Rotary Club. Rotary International named him a Paul Harris Fellow. He served on the Governor's Crime Commission under Gov. Meldrim Thompson in the late 1970's and chaired the Villa Augustina Board of Directors.

He was an avid church-goer and was an altar server during his younger years. He has been a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Manchester.

He was a very organized person who enjoyed woodworking and stamp collecting.

The family includes his wife of 36 years, Lorraine C. "Lori" (Ferron) Lemire of Goffstown; two sons, Peter G. Lemire of Sandwich, MA and Paul G. Lemire of New York, NY; a stepson, Michael D. Rousseaux of Marietta, GA; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a brother, Jean E. Lemire of Manchester; two sisters, Constance V. Lemire of Dover and Priscilla M. Lemire of Warwick, RI

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Sacred Heart Church 265 S. Main St., Manchester.

Memorial donations may be made to NH Catholic Charities, 215 Myrtle St., Manchester, NH 03104, or to Boy Scouts of America, 571 Holt Ave., Manchester, NH 03109.

Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, Manchester assistied the family with arrangements.
