Donald J. Levasseur, 90, of Manchester died Thursday, February 22, 2024 after a period of declining health.
Born September 19, 1933 in Manchester, he was the son of Wilfrid and Noella (Boily) Levasseur. He was raised in Manchester where he attended local schools and graduated from Hesser College. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. In 1957, he married his wife Helene (Belaski) and they enjoyed 67 years of marriage together.
Donald was an entrepreneur and was involved in many businesses. He worked for and owned Wilfrid's Market in Manchester for 23 years. He owned Second Street Plaza and was the founder of Clam King Restaurant. He also was a land developer, contractor, real estate agent and real estate appraiser.
As a boy, Donald was a boyscout member of Troop 135 and would go on to be a scout leader along with his friend and scoutmaster, Ray Bellemore. Donald was a founding member of the Bedford Rotary Club and was a Rotarian for 55 years. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Manchester Country Club.
Donald is survived by his loving wife Helene Levasseur; his children Daniel Levasseur & his wife Sandra of Hooksett, Michael Levasseur & his wife Linda of Manchester, Gary Levasseur & his partner Debbie of Goffstown, Thomas Levasseur & his wife Carol of Manchester and Christine Harrington & her husband Scott of Bedford; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; his sister Florence Dewyngaert of Manchester, many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Maurice Levasseur, Doris Lanctot and Robert Levasseur.
SERVICES: Calling hours for Donald will be held on Wednesday, February 28th from 4-7 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, February 29th at 10 am at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford. Committal will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
