Donald Edward Padfield, 84, of Bedford, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017.
Born April 23, 1933 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of the late Russell Padfield and Agnes (O'Brien) Padfield.
Donald graduated from the University of Missouri and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He spent the majority of his life working in the banking industry, most notably for Merchants National Bank of Manchester and First NH Bank.
He was an avid fisherman, gardener, soccer coach and referee for many years in Bedford. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Bedford Soccer League and started Bedford's first traveling soccer team, Bedford United.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Russell; and his sisters, Shirley and Patricia.
Donald is survived by his wife of 57 years, Louise Margaret (Dorgler) Padfield; daughters, Jeanne (Gerry) Bilz, Donna (Brian) Reynolds and Lisa Twitchell; sons Robert (Dirgny) Padfield, Paul Padfield, Steven (Dawn) Padfield, Mark (Kathy) Padfield and Donald (Claudia) Padfield; 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, January 12, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford. Commital prayers followed at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH.
