Donald H. Painting, PhD, 87, of Manchester, died January 12, 2017 at Mt. Carmel Nursing and Rehabilitation after a period of declining health.
He was born in Rochester, NY on December 23, 1929 to Herbert and Ethel (Stearns) Painting. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Rochester and a master's degree and PhD from the University of Kentucky.
Dr. Painting was a clinical psychologist at the VA Hospital in Coatesville, PA, The Pathway School in Norristown, PA and West Chester University in West Chester, PA. He was also a former adjunct faculty member at NH Community Technical College and Southern NH University. He was a member of the American Psychological Association.
He enjoyed reading, counted cross stitch and gardening.
He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Betty B. Painting in 2015 and by a brother, Leonard Painting.
The family includes a daughter, Lynne B. Painting of Hooksett; three grandchildren, Andrew, Rebecca and Alitheia; one great grandchild, Ethan; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral ceremony was held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
