Donald F. Prince

June 24, 1930 — June 14, 2009

Donald F. Prince, 78, of Auburn, died June 14, 2009, at Hanover Hill Health Care. He was born, June 24, 1930, in Bridgeport CT, and was the son of Louis and Flora (Gauthier) Prince.

At the age of 19, Don joined the United States Army, and served in Korea. During that time he was awarded the combat infantry badge, the United Nations service medal, as well as the Korean service medal with two bronze stars, and overseas bar. Following an honorable discharge, he began working for the Auclair Trucking Company. During retirement he worked as a courier for Public Service of NH, at the Seabrook power plant.

He was a proud member of the American Legion Jutras Post #43, and he was an officer of the VFW post # 8214. He enjoyed playing cards, and shooting pool, with his many friends at the Alpine Club or a round of golf at the Intervale Country Club.

Dons greatest joy came from hosting many dinners, barbeques, and parties for family, and friends. He will be remembered as a solid NY Yankee fan, and how much he enjoyed planting and tending to the flowers in his garden, as well as a fan of Frank Sinatra music.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially for his compassion, generosity, and wonderful sense of humor.

IN HIS LIFE: Family members include his wife of 52 years, Claire(Collins) Prince, of Auburn; 3 sons, Kenneth Prince, and his wife, Cathy, of Manchester, Thomas Prince, and his partner, Bruce Huggins, of Auburn, Gregory Prince, of Manchester; 4 grandchildren, Rhisa, Kelsey, Colby, and Lauren.

He was predeceased a brother, Robert Prince.

On Don's behalf, his family would like to thank the entire dedicated staff at Hanover Hill for giving him comfort, and a good quality of life while he was in their care.

A Service of Remembrance was held Thursday, June 18, 2009 in the funeral home.

Burial took place at NH Veterans Cemetery on Friday, June 19, 2009.
