Donna M. (Merrill) Beaulieu, 91, of Manchester, died May 25, 2022 at Maple Leaf Health Care Center after a period of declining health.
She was born in Laconia on August 12, 1930 to John and Alice (Benson) Merrill. She graduated from Laconia High School and Becker Junior College in Worcester, MA.
In her earlier years, she worked at the Flight Surgeon’s Office at Grenier Air Force Base in Manchester and later was secretary to the base commander. She then became licensed as a realtor.
Donna was very active in the community and served on boards at the YWCA, Elliot Hospital, Visiting Nurse Association, Manchester Institute of Arts and Sciences, Moore Center Services and Easter Seals NH. She also served as past president of the Manchester Women’s Club, Manchester Garden Club and Elliot Hospital Senior Associates where she accumulated over 3000 hours of volunteer service.
She earned many honors including Outstanding Club Woman of the Year by both the NH Federation of Woman’s Clubs and the Eastern Division of the National Federation of Woman’s Clubs. She was nominated for Manchester Citizen of the Year in 1986 and was honored by the Easter Seals Jolicoeur School for her support of the school. She was also presented the Athena Award by the Manchester Woman’s Club for outstanding qualities of leadership and commitment to the community.
Donna enjoyed gardening, swimming, skiing and traveling and most importantly, time spent with her family and friends. She never let a birthday or holiday go by without making it very special and she would decorate her home to fit the occasion. Love and effort went into everything she did. Nothing was done halfway. Christmas eves at the Beaulieu’s were legendary.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard D. Beaulieu in 2017; her parents and three siblings, Dorothy Garver, Lotti Merrill and John Merrill.
She is survived by two children, Brittany Lantaigne and her husband, Peter, of Manchester and Gary Beaulieu and his wife, Karen, of Bedford; two grandchildren, Joey Beaulieu and Matt Beaulieu and nieces and nephews.
