Doris Dakoulas

her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Manchester, NH on July 1, 1930, to Alphonse and Florida (Giguere) Poirier, Doris was raised and educated in local schools and graduated from Manchester High School Central .

As a teenager, she helped to support her family sometimes working 3 jobs at a time. She worked for many years as a secretary for the former Hanover Insurance Company. In later years, she was employed as a legal secretary for several prominent law firms, often making their families her own.

Known affectionately to all as YiaYia, she devoted her life to caring for her family & others and selflessly put everyone's needs above her own. Her interests included reading, knitting, stopping at yard sales, traveling with her family, and spending time with her best friends, her daughter in-law Celeste Dakoulas, and sister-in-law, Mary Koukos.

Her endless energy, strength, work ethic, love of life, and love for her family, were an inspiration to all. She always saw the best in everyone. Her wonderful kindness and spirit will be greatly missed.

She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.

Family members include her seven children, Catherine Cowette, Christina Battistelli, Linda Johnson, Peter Dakoulas, Jr., Cynthia Sheehan, all of Manchester, Stephen Dakoulas, of Florida, Roberta Dakoulas of Texas; 19 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Poirier, of Hooksett; a sister, Suzanne Dakoulas, of Manchester; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Peter H. Dakoulas, Sr. in 2007.

A memorial service was celebrated on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 650 Hanover Street, Manchester. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery, 765 Brown Ave, Manchester.
