Doris Rita Desmarais

Doris Rita Desmarais, 98, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center surrounded by her loving family. 

Born in Manchester on March 13, 1926, she was the daughter to the late Hector and Irene (Rene) Fontaine. She worked for Evangeline Shoe Company and Pandora for many years. 

 Doris was a longtime active parishioner of St. Theresa Church and later St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. She aided in running the church activities at St. Theresa and was a longtime member of the Ladies of St. Anne.

Doris was a loving, devoted and meticulous homemaker. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and loved to keep things neat and tidy. Above all, spending time with family was most important. 

Doris is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Cecile Houle of Manchester; stepdaughter, Joanne Douglas; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her first husband, Wilfrid Desmarais; second husband, Adrien Desmarais and her son-in-law, Albert Houle. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday (4/3) at 10 am. St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford, NH 03110.   Committal prayers to follow in the family lot at St. Augustin Cemetery, Manchester, NH.
