Doris H. Martel

Doris H. (LaFrance) Martel, 84, of Kennebunk, ME died August 6, 2003 at York Hospital, York, ME after a brief illness.

Born in Manchester, NH on January 16, 1919, she was the daughter of Arthur and Alice (Demers) LaFrance. She lived in Manchester, NH most of her life, then Bedford, NH before moving to Kennebunk three years ago.

Mrs. Martel worked at J.F. McElwain Shoe Company in Manchester, NH for many years.

She was married to Joseph W.A. Martel who died in 1995.

The family includes two sons, Richard W. Martel of Wytheville, VA and Paul A. Martel of Wells, ME; two daughters, Constance Briggs of N. Berwick, ME and Gloria Asselin of York Beach, ME; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a brother, Alfred LaFrance of Manchester, NH; nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday August 11, 2003 in St. Pius X Church, corner of Candia Rd. and Sarto St., Manchester, NH. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester, NH.
