Dorothy A. Aldrich

Dorothy A. (Grainger) Aldrich, 89, of Manchester, NH died February 13, 2012 at Villa Crest Nursing and Retirement Center in Manchester after a period of declining health.

She was born in Fitchburg, MA on August 2, 1922 to George and Hannah (O'Brien) Grainger. She graduated from Fitchburg High School and Peacock Academy and lived in Fitchburg most of her life. She also lived in Westminster, MA before moving to Manchester.

She was a hairdresser, homemaker, and later retired from the Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School in Fitchburg in 1984.

Mrs. Aldrich was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Fitchburg where she was chair of the altar guild and a Sunday school teacher. She was a past matron and member of the Lady Emma Chapter 27 of the Eastern Star of Fitchburg, a past president and member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 174 of Westminster, and a member of the Burbank Hospital Guild in Fitchburg.

She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, David W. Aldrich and a sister, Mary P. Andrews both in 2007, and a brother, Russell Grainger in 1994.

The family includes a son, Kevin Aldrich and his wife, Sarah, of Manchester, NH; and two grandchildren, Katherine and Elizabeth Aldrich both of Manchester, NH.

SERVICES: There are no services planned at this time. Burial in Woodside Cemetery, Westminster, MA will be at the convenience of the family.
