Dorothy was born March 8, 1928 in St. Alban's, New York, and moved to Amherst in 1965. A devoted mother of five sons and one daughter, Dorothy worked tirelessly as a full-time mother to her children, while pursuing passions that included tennis, paddle tennis and working for the League of Women Voters of New Hampshire. She also created and coached the girl's tennis team at Mt. St. Mary's Seminary High School in Nashua. Later, after her children went off to college, Dorothy became a fashion buyer for McQuade's Department Store in Manchester.
She was known for her grace and beauty, both inside and out, and for her wonderful laugh and smile.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her son, Matthew, and her husband of 55-years, William "Bill" Johnson.
She is survived by sons Patrick, Michael, Corry, Tony, daughter Jennifer, daughter-in-law Tammy, and grandchildren Ciarra Johnson, Emma Johnson, Will and Ben Johnson, Katie and Doug Letheren, and Stephen and Christopher Lee.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at St. Patrick's Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford, NH.
