Dorothy B. Roy

The daughter of Zenon and Florida (Roux) Lemire, she was born on January 5, 1922 in Lowell, MA. She attended St. Peter's grammar school and graduated from Lowell High School in 1939. Also, she attended Hesser College in Manchester, NH for accounting courses.

She had worked as a civil servant for the US Marine Corps in Washington, DC from 1941-43. She next was employed by the IRS in Boston, MA ('43-47) and Manchester, NH in the 1970's. Prior to retirement in 1984, she had been employed by the State of NH Dept of Education and Health and Human Resources.

Dorothy was a member of the Catholic War Veterans Aux. 1624, the Manchester Women's Club, and the Lady's Sodality, and the Consolers of Jesus and Mary. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother for 4 years. She was a parishioner of St. Hedwig Parish in Manchester, NH.

Dorothy was very devoted to her family and enjoyed socializing with her friends. She was a faith-filled woman, also very devoted to her Church. She and her husband took many trips together after her retirement and enjoyed them all, especially their cross-country train trip in Canada, and their cruises in the Caribbean.

Members of her family include her husband of 59 years and 5 months, Elphege E. Roy of Manchester; four children, Charlene Ouellette of Manchester, Paul Roy of Manchester NH, Robert Roy and his wife Coral Roy of Sanford, NC, and Claudette Dachowski and her husband Robert Dachowski Jr. of Hampton, NH; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Lucienne Therriault, Claire Lemire of Nashua, and Rita Lemire of Lowell, MA; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings Leon Lemire, Robert Lemire, Harold Lemire, and Eloise Lemire.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Wednesday April 18, 2007 in St. Hedwig Church. Burial followed in St. Augustin Cemetery, Manchester.
