Douglas C. Chandler, 62, of Dunbarton, NH died April 23, 2018 at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester. He had been a resident of Dunbarton since 1981.
He was born in Concord, NH September 29, 1955 to James and Elizabeth (Clarke) Chandler. He grew up in Portsmouth and graduated from Portsmouth High School where he played in the school band and was a member of the varsity basketball team. He later graduated from Hesser College and the University of New Hampshire.
He served in the US Army from 1976 to 1980.
Douglas had worked at Merchants Motors in Hooksett for the last 30 years.
He coached AAU Basketball from 1997 to 2000. In 2001 he coached Central High School freshman girls basketball and from 2005 until the present was the assistant varsity coach. He was an avid golfer.
He leaves his wife of 37 years, Sharon L. (Bieniek) Chandler of Dunbarton; two children, Sarah Janice Beaudin, her husband Taylor and their two children, Bentley and Hannah all of Lincoln, NH; Joscelyn Lee Miller, her husband Adam and their daughter McKenzie all of Bennington, NH; three siblings, Lee Clifford and her husband, William, of Hampton, NH, Clarke Chandler and his wife, Laurie, of New Castle, NH and Paige Chandler of California; nieces and nephews.
Private burial will be in the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen at the convenience of the family.
