Dr. Kevin P. Van Anglen, PHD, 70, of Bedford, NH died December 20, 2023 after a period of declining health due to Parkinson’s disease.
Born in Washington, DC, on January 8, 1953, he was the son of the late Walter T. and Bride (Shaughnessy) Van Anglen. He was educated at Harvard University A.M., Ph.D., English and American Literature 1983 University of Cambridge, UK B.A. (Honors), M.A., 1978 Princeton University BA English 1975 Trinity High School, Manchester class of 1971.
Prior to retirement, Kevin had been a professor at Boston University: 1998-2015 Boston College: Adjunct Faculty Member 1998 to 2013 Harvard University: 1979-1983 as well as 1991-1994 University of Pennsylvania: 1983-1989. He has received numerous grants and has published a number of books and reviews. He had been director and editor for numerous academic publications and committees including: The Thoreau Society, Inc.: Member of the Board of Directors (2006 to 2012) Massachusetts Institute of Technology GeoSpatial Data Center: Member of Advisory Committee on Geo Climate, Energy, and Water (2010 to 2012).
He was predeceased by his parents and nephew, Dylan Van Anglen.
Family members include his brothers, D. Sean Van Anglen of Manchester, NH, William Van Anglen and wife Kathleen of Port St. Lucie, FL, James Van Anglen and wife Patricia of Daphne, AL; nephews, Sean Patrick Van Anglen and Eric Van Anglen; niece, Shelagh Van Anglen;
Calling hours at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St, Manchester, will be January 26th, 2024 from 4 to 7 pm. An additional hour of visitation will be on January 27th at St. Elizabeth Seton Church from 9am to 10am followed by a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10 am.
Burial in Bedford Center Cemetery will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Francis House Shelter for the Homeless in Boston MA or to Cambridge in America NY, NY
