Dwight R Morrison of Manchester, NH passed away at the age of 58 on the morning of September 8, 2024.
Dwight was born on November, 16, 1965 in Peoria, IL to Cathryn and James Morrison. After a brief period in Peoria, IL, Dwight and his family moved to Manchester, NH where he lived for most of his life. Briefly in the early 1990s he travelled to Huntsville, AL with his mom to care for his grandparents and later returned to Manchester, NH.
Dwight was a proud graduate of Trinity High School in Manchester, NH and attended St Anslem College and New Hampshire College (SNHU) in Manchester, NH
As an avid reader and enthusiast for current events, it was only natural for Dwight to gravitate to the newspaper industry. Dwight built upon his childhood days as a delivery boy to advance to manage the southern New Hampshire market for the Boston Globe/Community News Group.
Dwight had a great love for dogs. He was the proud owner of a beautiful sheltie named Liberty. In later years when Liberty was gone, Dwight liked to say he adopted the neighborhood’s dogs. They regularly visited and many times Dwight gave them treats, or as Dwight called them “a cookie”.
Hitting the casinos was another source of enjoyment for Dwight. Bright lights, rolling number boards and the sound of the Wheel of Fortune thrilled him. He was a priority club member at all the major New England casinos and was treated with “celebrity like” status when he arrived. It was fun hearing him talk about his “taxable hits”.
Dwight had many interests and passions. He was a car aficionado and never missed the annual NYC Auto show. In addition he spent many hours collecting items that gave him enjoyment: sports almanacs, baseball cards, records, classic TV shows and Boston sports team related memorabilia. Yearly he travelled to Florida to attend the Red Sox spring training games.
Dwight was a loyal friend and his sense of humor was enjoyed by all who knew him. His ability to recite facts and statistics from memory was a talent that came naturally. He enjoyed wearing casual clothes, driving his car and loved eating out at all the local restaurants
Dwight is survived by his Uncle Donald Reiss, wife Vivian Reiss and cousin Dinah Reiss, of Huntsville, AL, along with his Aunt Wendy Morrison of Cocoa, FL
A memorial will be held on October 12, 2024 from 11-3 at the Puritan Back Room in Manchester, NH to celebrate his life and memory.
