She was born March 30, 1919 in Lawrence, MA the daughter of John and Frances (Maj) Beasley.
Edith was a Registered Nurse having graduated from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Paterson, NJ in 1941. She married her husband, Roy, during World War II in Macon, GA and later settled in Fair Lawn, NJ where she and her husband raised their three sons. While living in Fair Lawn, NJ for more than 50 years, she worked as a Registered Nurse in various hospitals in north Jersey and during the same time period practiced private duty nursing throughout the area.
She had been a resident at Birch Hill Terrace in Manchester for the last 11 years.
Edith loved to read, go for walks and also enjoyed the beach. She also loved to host family gatherings for picnics and holidays.
She pointed us in the right direction, kept us on track and was an inspiration to all.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Roy F. Grieder of Manchester; three sons, John C. Grieder and wife Hannelore of Oak Ridge, NJ and their two daughters, Erin (Neglio) of Caldwell, NJ and Megan serving in the US Army in Virginia; Roy F. Grieder, Jr. and wife Terri of Henniker, NH and Dr. Kevin Grieder of Seguin, TX and his children, Ashley, Kristy and Adam; a sister, Genie of Hazlet, NJ and her two daughters, April and Gay, and nieces, Janie Johnson of Yonkers, NY, Diane (Grieder) Grigg of Suffolk, VA and Gail (Grieder) Hill of Columbia, MD.
A memorial service took place Monday, June 23, 2014 in Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, NH.
Private burial will be in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH at the family's convenience.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Birch Hill Terrace for the outstanding care given to Edith.
