Edna E. (Wurtele) Landry, 99, formerly of Manchester and Bedford, died January 7, 2021 at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown after a period of declining health.
Edna was born in Manchester on June 7, 1921 to Arthur and Corinne (Gaudette) Wurtele and resided there until she moved to Briston Manor in Bedford after the death of her husband.
Raising her children was her full-time job, which she cherished. She took pride and joy in all their accomplishments, whether big or small.
Line dancing, being part of a senior bowling team and playing cards with friends were her favorite pastimes. She loved people and her longtime friendships meant a lot to her. Her faith was very important. After her husband died, they attended daily Mass.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred A. Landry in 2006; a son, Paul Landry in 2019 and three siblings, Edgar Wurtele, May Brassard and Marcelle Mason.
She is survived by five children, Irene Sherburda and her husband, Victor, of Greenville, Nancy Milligan of Sarasota, FL, David Landry and his wife, Constance, of Shelburne, Scott Landry of Amherst and John Landry and his wife, Elizabeth, of Barrington; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Hedwig Church, corner of Beech and Orange streets, Manchester. Please wear masks and observe social distancing guidelines. Private burial will be at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
