Edna M. Snow

Edna Marceau Snow, died of natural causes on February 22, 2021. She married Manchester native David B. Snow, M.D. in 1952 and moved to Manchester in 1955. She called Manchester home for more than 65 years.

Born via an "at home delivery" in Ipswich, MA on December 6, 1929, the daughter of Laura and Charles Marceau, she graduated with high honors from Loring Villa High School in Salem, MA at the age of 15.

She then went on to Saint Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Lowell, MA with clinical rotations at Danvers State Hospital and Boston City Hospital. She graduated from nursing school in 1949 as a registered nurse and then worked for the Harvard Medical School Service at Boston City Hospital where she met her husband to-be and continued to work at Boston City Hospital while David was finishing his cardiology fellowship at Harvard Medical School. Edna and David enjoyed 67 years of marriage until David's passing in 2019.

In 1956 Edna and David moved to Manchester where she put nursing aside and made a full-time commitment to raising a family of four children. She was very active in the Manchester community through significant volunteer work including The Elliot Hospital Senior Associates, the Manchester Garden Club and many medically oriented charities. Along with her husband, she was a founder of The Derryfield School as well as Swimmers Inc. (Sudden Pitch). Edna was an avid reader and bridge player. She belonged to many book groups and bridge clubs. Her favorite hobbies included painting, walking, golf, gardening and needlework.

Favorite times in her life included the raising and mentoring of her four children and the births of her nine grandchildren. Every year she would vacation with family on East Grand Lake in Forest City, ME at a family owned camp that has been treasured by generations of Snows dating back to 1905. After David's retirement in 1987, she enjoyed wintering at her home in Bonita Springs, FL as well as multiple trips to Europe.

Edna is survived by her four children, David Bruce Snow, Jr. of Darien, CT, Alison Snow Perrella of Bedford, Mary Snow Korslund of Rockport, MA, Julie Snow Mazur of Northfield and their respective spouses, Lynette Snow, Michael Perrella, Harry Korslund and Robert Mazur; nine grandchildren, Gregory Korslund, Laura Korslund Orta, Catherine Perrella, Andrew Perrella, Captain USAF, David Perrella, Christopher Mazur, Staff Sargent USAF, Jacqueline Mazur, Lauren Snow and Ashley Snow Dority; her sister, Alma Marceau Clark and her husband Ronald Clark.

She was predeceased by her siblings Sr. Therese Marceau and US Air Force Sargent Charles Marceau.

A private family service will be held for Edna Snow at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital for Children, P.O.
