In the early morning of March 31, 2017, Edward Roy Basnett passed away peacefully of natural causes at Nashua Crossings in Nashua, NH where he resided for the last eighteen months. Edward was 90 years old.
Edward was born in Steubenville, Ohio on May 24, 1926. He was the oldest of two children born to Mary Catherine (Clark) and Charles Edward Basnett. In 1930, his parents relocated from Steubenville to Niagara Falls, Ontario.
In 1943 he enlisted in the Canadian Army Reserve and served as a munitions driver. He served until the end of World War II. After leaving the service, Edward started a career with Moore Business Forms working as a photo engraver. In 1945 he met and fell in love with Madeline Flood and they were married on July 20, 1946.
In 1955 Edward moved his family to a home in North Tonawanda, New York where they lived until Edward's career at Moore Business Forms brought the family to Manchester, NH in 1968. Edward retired from Moore Business Forms in 1988.
Edward is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Robert and his loving wife, Madeline.
Edward is survived by his children, Patricia Ann (Michael) Frank, Barbara Marie (Wayne) Jackson, Diane Lynn McCormick and Douglas Edward (Louise) Basnett; his 12 grandchildren and his 15 great-grandchildren.
A private funeral service was held on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CASA of New Hampshire, PO Box 1327, Manchester, NH 03105.
