Edward A. Chaput

d. December 16, 2015

Edward Arthur Chaput, 80, formerly of Barrington, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's illness surrounded by family members on December 16, 2015 at Havenwood Heritage Heights in Concord.

Ed was born on August 1, 1935 and was the son of Edward and Lucille B. (Pinard) Chaput who were of Manchester. He married Frances (Chouinard) Chaput, his wife of 57 years, on July 28, 1956 in Manchester where they raised their four children before moving to Barrington in the 1970's.

After graduating from high school Ed joined the Air Force and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. Upon his discharge, he worked for Public Service Company, first in Manchester at the Kelly Falls Power Station. He retired 32 years later as a shift supervisor in the control room at the Newington Station. Ed and Fran retired in Parish, FL in 2002 before moving to Concord in 2007.

Ed loved his family and was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. He loved his summers with family at their camp on Northwood Lake. Later as his children got older he would help them build and renovate their homes. He was a handyman who loved to putter around the house and work in his vegetable and flower gardens.

Ed also loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed motorcycling and snowmobiling. During the summer Ed and Fran would travel throughout the country on their Honda Goldwing. They eventually biked through every continental US state. In the winter they would take extensive trips on their snowmobiles to northern New England and Quebec. They also traveled to the Caribbean Islands during the winter months with friends and family.

Ed is survived by his sister Connie Bryant and her husband, Marlyin, of Manchester; two sisters in law, Irene Chouinard of Manchester and Stella Richer and her husband, Louis, of Sun City, Florida; four children, Michael Chaput of Middleton, Catherine Chaput Dumais and her husband, Richard, of Gilford, Edward Chaput and his wife, Christine of Nottingham and Carla Fraser and her husband, Ronald, of Hudson; six grandchildren, Amber Drapeau and her husband, Scott, of Milton, Alise Dumais of Medford, Mass, Edward Chaput and Aubrey Chaput both of Nottingham and Stephanie Fraser and Heather Fraser both of Hudson; one great granddaughter, Clarissa Drapeau; and nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Fran, in 2012; a nephew, Kevin Bryant in 2003; and a brother-in-law, Arthur Chouinard in 2014.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, corner of Webster and Hemlock streets, Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
