Edward R. Desruisseaux Sr., 72, of Manchester died peacefully on May 20, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Manchester on February 6, 1946, he was the son of Eugene and Georgiana (Desmarais) Desruisseaux. He served in the Army National Guard and US Navy from 1966 to 1969 during the Vietnam era. He served on the USS Dupont.
He was employed at Therrien Roofing, Skyline Roofing and Sheetmetal prior to his retirement from Northeastern Sheet Metal at the age of 54.
Edward was a life member of the American Legion Post 54 and was commander for almost 10 years. He was also a life member of the V.F.W. Post #8214 and the Alpine Club.
He had a great talent for specialty welding and no fear of heights. He enjoyed camping and traveling with his family. After an early retirement, he became a Florida snowbird with his wife and enjoyed several cruises and traveling cross country. One of his greatest joys was helping others and always being there for his family. He was happy and felt that he had enjoyed a full life.
Family members include his loving wife, Shirley (Case) Desruisseaux of Manchester; his children, Brenda (Davis) Aliberti of Concord, Robin (Davis) Lamy of Hillsboro, Eddie Desruisseaux Jr. and wife Lisa of Manchester; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Cecile Labrie of Goffstown, Renee Shaw and husband Rick of Manchester, Claire McGivens and husband John of Florida; one brother, Robert N. Desruisseaux of Nashua; several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Graveside committal services were held on Friday, June 1, 2018 in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 DW Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Lung Association, 55 West Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601.
