He was born in Mount Vernon, NY on May 23, 1924 to Michael and Mary (Walsh) Donovan. He lived in Mount Vernon for many years before moving to Hooksett 37 years ago.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Marine Corps, 2nd Division, in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal.
Mr. Donovan was a firefighter in Mount Vernon for 30 years and served as treasurer of the UFFA Local 107. He later was a courier with Glaxo Smith Kline for 13 years.
He was married to June H. (Scofield) Donovan, who died in 1983.
IN HIS LIFE: The family includes three children, Michael F. Donovan and his wife, Elke, of Germany, Elizabeth A. Barrett and her husband, Craig, of Hampton Falls, and Edward A. Donovan of Hooksett; four grandchildren; a sister, Mary M. Iamonico of Tuckahoe, NY; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North Street, Manchester.
