Edward T. Runis

Edward T. Runis, 86, of Tilton, NH, died May 22, 2008 at the NH Veterans Home after a period of declining health.

He was born in Racine, Wisconsin, on April 15, 1922, the son of Stanley and Pauline Runis. His siblings included four brothers and one sister. He grew up in Racine until he enlisted in the US Army in 1940. Mr. Runis served as a Medical Technician from 1940 until his honorable discharge in 1945. His service to his country during WWII included the Asiatic Pacific Tour and the Euro African Mid East Tour of Duty. Mr. Runis also took part in the American liberation of the Netherlands.

After separation from the Army, Mr. Runis pursued an education in television and radio repair. In 1950, he opened a television sales and repair store, Community Television, in Wakefield, MA, which he owned and operated until his retirement.

In 1995 he moved to Manchester to be closer to his daughter and grandsons. Mr. Runis was an avid golfer who maintained a four handicap. He earned the Golf Certification of Teaching Professional. During his retirement, he enjoyed giving golf lessons to young children at the Legends Golf & Family Recreation in Hooksett, NH.

He was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor P. (Elf) Runis in 1989.

His family includes a daughter, Janet and son-in-law Thomas Tamulevich of Bedford; one son, Richard Runis and daughter-in-law Alice of Denver, CO; two grandsons, Christopher Tamulevich and Andrew Tamulevich and wife Elizabeth. He is also survived by his great-grandson, James.

The funeral service was held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, May 26, 2008 with the Rev. George Desjardins officiating. After cremation, urn burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn, MA.
