Edwin S. Narus

April 14, 1923 — February 10, 2004

Edwin S. Narus, 80, of Manchester, died February 10, 2004, at a local health care facility after a lengthy illness.

Born in Methuen, MA, April 14, 1923, he was the son of Stephen Naruszewicz and Stella (Dziadosz) Krupa.

Upon his marriage in 1951, Mr. Narus resided in Newport NH, became manager of Derby's Furniture, and later part owner and operator of Sunapee Bedding with his brother Edmund.

Mr. Narus moved to Goffstown, New Hampshire in 1968 where he continued his sales career with Worcester Bedding and Homeline Industries. He remained active in local and state politics and worked on behalf of Governors, Thompson, Gallen and Sununu. His charitable works included the American Red Cross and contributions to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Upon his retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Narus moved to Orange City, Florida where he was elected to consecutive terms as President of the Pine Forest Mobile Home Association. He also served on the City Council where he worked hard to build a senior citizens center and an addition to the local hospital.

Mr. Narus was active in local politics and labor union organizing. He later became an auctioneer and was instrumental in writing the by-laws and organizing the New Hampshire Board of Auctioneers on which he also served as president. He was also a member of the New England Furniture Association. In addition he was a member of St. Patrick Church, Manchester.

He was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, RoseMary (Welch) Narus, his sons, Edwin S. Narus, Jr. and Steven A. Narus and eight siblings.

Family members include his daughters, Mrs.Vicky Bernard and Ms. Leisa Narus both of Hooksett, New Hampshire, Mary Jane Adams and Anne Beatty of Claremont and Newport, NH; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Narus was a dedicated husband, father and friend. Many benefited from his generosity, wisdom and guidance over the years. He will be missed.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday February 13, 2004 in St. Patrick Church, 138 Coolidge Ave., Manchester. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Memorial Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
